Our Story
Beautiful Journey Counseling began in 2013 when Dr. Allison Johnson brought the collaborative spirit of school counseling into private practice. In her years as a school counselor, school administrator and educational psychologist, she saw how powerful it was when professionals worked together to support children, teens, and families. But she also saw the limitations of working within a school system.
She founded this practice with a simple promise: to combine the collaborative, caring approach she loved with the clinical depth families truly needed. What started as a part-time practice has grown into a team of 25+ clinicians and dedicated administrative staff who treat every client like family. Along the way, we deepened our expertise in reproductive and perinatal mental health, supporting families through fertility struggles, pregnancy loss, and postpartum challenges.
Today, Beautiful Journey Counseling serves children, teens, adults, couples, and families across Bergen County—known not just for clinical excellence, but for making people feel seen, heard, valued, and supported.
