About Jill Apilado

Jill Apilado’s career in social work began in supportive and transitional housing in New York City, providing both case management and clinical services. Jill worked with adult women who were HIV positive and had a co-occurring mental health and/or substance use disorder diagnosis.

Jill later transitioned to the medical setting, working in community based primary care clinics, and providing therapy to patients who were referred by their PCP or women’s health provider for mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, and stress.

Jill often uses Dialectical Behavior Therapy interventions in her practice, along with Cognitive Behavior Therapy andsomatic based interventions. She completed her Perinatal Mental Health training through Postpartum Support International.

Jill immigrated from the Philippines with her family to the Southern US when she was 10 years old. She moved to NYC in 2012, and has been living in NJ since 2018 with her partner and their two children. Other than spending time with family and friends, she enjoys reading (her favorites are fantasy or sci-fi novels), listening to music, being in nature, and sports.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is collaborative and transparent. I view the therapist as a guide in your life’s journey, whether your goal is to learn, develop, and strengthen coping skills, gain more understanding about yourself, or process a difficult experience.

My specialized Perinatal Mental Health training has deepened my ability to work with those who are experiencing pregnancy-related concerns and challenges. This can be one of the most difficult phases of life one can go through and you do not have to go through it alone.
