ABOUT TIMOTHY CONWAY,
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC), director of school counseling, and adjunct instructor at several New Jersey graduate schools. I also have my Master’s degree in Counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
I have over 19 years of experience working in the mental health field and I provide supervision to Licensed Associate Counselors. I have worked in schools, private practice, outpatient, and in-home placements. I have extensive experience working in schools and working with clients who have suffered from anxiety, depression, ADHD, college/career development, and academic difficulties.
TIMOTHY CONWAY’S APPROACH TO THERAPY
Prior clients would say that I am honest, empathetic, non-judgmental, and genuine. I believe in open and honest dialogue so that we can best help you move forward. My counseling approach is grounded in Adlerian theory while using strengths-based, solution-focused, and cognitive-behavioral strategies. I believe how we think affects our actions.
I work with clients to construct meaning from their individual circumstances and to create goals to move forward. I believe every client is different, and my pledge is to treat each person as an individual, working towards your own unique goals. I specialize in working with children and adolescents and also have experience working with adults on a variety of topics. I hope this helps you learn a little about who I am and what I can offer. I wish you well on your journey and I look forward to helping you reach your destination.
COUPLES THERAPY
I employ evidence-based techniques and therapeutic modalities tailored to the unique needs of each couple. By creating a safe and supportive environment, partners express their feelings, understand each other’s perspectives, and develop practical strategies for maintaining a healthy relationship. My approach to couples counseling is holistic and integrative, combining elements of The Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. I believe every couple has the potential to grow and thrive together, given the right tools and support. I am passionate about empowering couples to rebuild their connection, overcome challenges, and create a fulfilling partnership.
CERTIFICATIONS
I have mental health certifications as an approved clinical supervisor (ACS), nationally certified counselor (NCC), and nationally certified school counselor (NCSC). In addition, I have school certifications as a school counselor, substance awareness coordinator, teacher, director of school counseling, principal, and superintendent.
