ABOUT AMI BURGOS

Ami Burgos, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience providing care across multiple levels of treatment. She has worked with children and adolescents in Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), as well as in inpatient settings conducting crisis screenings for both youth and adults. In addition, she has held leadership roles in outpatient settings serving adults with mental health and substance use concerns.

Her clinical expertise includes supporting individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, and personality disorders. She also works with clients navigating self-esteem challenges, self-compassion, rumination, negative thought patterns, and life transitions related to grief, loss, retirement, and shifting interpersonal relationships.

Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Ami emphasizes grounding strategies, perspective-shifting skills, and reframing techniques to empower clients in building resilience and cultivating meaningful change.

AMI BURGOS’ APPROACH TO THERAPY

Hi, I’m Ami! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and I’ve had the privilege of working with children, teens, and adults in many different settings from outpatient and inpatient care to PHP and IOP programs. Along the way, I’ve supported people through a wide range of experiences, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood and personality disorders, substance use, grief and loss, and major life transitions like retirement or changes in relationships.

At the heart of my work is creating a space where you can feel safe, supported, and fully yourself. I believe therapy should feel encouraging and sometimes even a little lighthearted. I often bring humor into sessions as a way to ease stress, open perspective, and highlight strengths you might not have recognized in yourself.

I pull from approaches like CBT, DBT, grounding strategies, and reframing techniques, but I don’t believe therapy is one size fits all. My focus is on meeting you where you are, honoring your story, and working together to find what fits best for you. Most importantly, I want you to know you are not alone. My hope is that you leave our time together feeling seen, supported, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges with greater compassion and confidence.
