About Hannah Toran, MSW, LSW:

Hannah Toran’s background as a former preschool teacher has given her a deep appreciation for early childhood and for the important role parents play in their children’s lives. In her internships, Hannah also worked with teens and their families, providing therapy for issues that ranged from dealing with OCD to navigating the foster care system. For the past two years, she has worked as a therapist providing individual and group therapy to adult survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Through this role, she also worked as a child therapist, supporting children and parents who are navigating the process of divorce.

Hannah incorporates a range of modalities in the personalized support she provides for her clients including IFS, EMDR, Somatic, CBT, DBT, Family Systems, and play therapy techniques. Her love for attachment and supporting healthy family relationships drives her work with perinatal mental health clients. To ensure that her clients receive quality clinical care as they begin their journey to parenthood, she will be pursuing a certification in PMH-C this September.

Hannah Toran’s Approach to therapy

Ever since I was young, I have always had a love for learning about people and their stories. I believe that in order to know where a person is going, it’s important to learn more about where they have come from.

With warmth and empathy, I try to foster a nurturing space for clients to understand more about their emotions and experiences. I believe in normalizing some of the challenges people face and will often use humor to help my clients feel validated and less alone. My training in trauma and attachment based therapy modalities, serves as a strong foundation to help my clients learn more about themselves in the context of their relationships, whether on the playground, at work, or in the home.

Working with perinatal mental health clients has been a natural progression for me, both as a mom and as a former preschool teacher. Parents deserve to feel supported as they navigate the different transitions and stages of parenthood, from the early moments of pregnancy into toddlerhood.
