ABOUT JESSICA PINELLI

I am a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and high school counselor passionate about supporting adolescents and their families. Before transitioning into counseling, I spent several years in public relations for commercial and residential real estate developers. While I gained valuable experience in the corporate world, I never felt fulfilled. After a shift to healthcare public relations, it became clear that my favorite part of any role was mentoring interns and training junior staff. Realizing my true passion for helping others grow led me to pursue a career in counseling.

I have experience in both school and private practice settings, working as a School Counselor and Mental Health Associate. I’ve provided individual and group counseling to address issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and self-esteem. Currently, I work as a high school counselor, supporting students through self-exploration, social and emotional challenges, college and career planning, academics, and self-advocacy. Whether helping clients through academic transitions, mental health challenges, or personal growth, I am dedicated to empowering them to build resilience and lead fulfilling lives.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Master of Science in School Counseling from Monmouth University, where I focused my research on equity and social justice in public education. I also served as a Graduate Assistant for the Central Jersey Consortium for Excellence & Equity and received the School of Education’s award for Excellence in School Counseling. I am certified as a New Jersey School Counselor, Student Assistance Coordinator (SAC), and Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC).

Outside of work, I enjoy practicing hot yoga, spending time outside, and watching NY Yankees games with my family!

JESSICA PINELLI’S APPROACH TO THERAPY

My therapeutic approach is rooted in the belief that each individual has the innate ability to heal and grow. I adopt a holistic, person-centered perspective, understanding that everyone’s journey is unique. This means that I meet clients where they are in their personal development, valuing their individual experiences, needs, and goals.

The core of my practice is creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can freely explore their thoughts and emotions. I believe that healing begins with acceptance and understanding, and through this process, clients can unlock their potential for meaningful change.

My approach is tailored to meet each client’s unique needs, focusing on their strengths while addressing challenges in an empowering and effective way. I use evidence-based therapies like Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help individuals develop emotional regulation, resilience, and coping skills. By identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and behaviors, I collaborate with clients to promote positive change and establish healthier ways of thinking.

Whether supporting clients through academic transitions, assisting individuals with mental health challenges, or guiding clients on their path of self-discovery, my goal remains the same: to promote emotional well-being and personal growth. Through compassionate, individualized care, I strive to empower clients to overcome obstacles, heal, and lead fulfilling lives.
