About Brenda Cozar
Brenda has worked with individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan, including children and adolescents. She has provided outpatient therapeutic services in community-based settings, allowing her to develop a strong understanding of the emotional, relational, environmental, and life-transition challenges people face at different stages of life. She has experience using Structural Family Therapy to support adult individuals and couples navigating communication difficulties, blended family transitions, and parenting challenges. Brenda also works with children and adolescents experiencing behavioral concerns and helps families build effective, developmentally appropriate parenting and communication skills that strengthen relationships and promote emotional well-being. Additionally, she works with individuals living with anxiety and OCD, using evidence-based approaches including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Brenda Cozar's Approach To Therapy
My approach to therapy is compassionate, supportive, and collaborative. I believe meaningful change happens when people feel understood, respected, and appropriately challenged. When working with adult individuals, couples, and families, I focus on improving communication patterns, resolving conflict, clarifying roles, and strengthening relationships in ways that foster mutual understanding and connection. When working with children and adolescents, I help clients build confidence, increase distress tolerance, and strengthen emotion-regulation skills to support positive behavioral change. Throughout the therapeutic process, I emphasize insight, practical skill-building, and empowerment, supporting clients as they develop the tools they need to help themselves and grow.
