About Deborah Hamilton

Deborah Hamilton is a former school counselor with experience supporting adolescents, adults, couples, and families. As a school counselor, she provided individual, group, and crisis counseling and worked closely with parents to strengthen communication and family relationships.

Deborah helps parents navigate the complex challenges of raising teenagers, drawing on her extensive experience working directly with teens dealing with anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, grief and loss, trauma, bullying, loneliness, rejection, school avoidance, and peer and parental pressure. Beyond supporting parents, she empowers adults with targeted therapeutic tools to conquer their anxiety, work through grief and depression, resolve relationship conflicts, overcome separation or divorce, master co-parenting, and confidently thrive through major life transitions.

Deborah especially enjoys working with couples and has completed Level 1 and Level 2 Clinical Training in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

Deborah Hamilton’s Approach To Therapy

Life can be challenging, and sometimes we need a little extra support to find our way through it. My goal is to provide a safe, warm, and supportive environment where you can express your thoughts and feelings freely and without judgment.

I believe therapy is a collaborative process. I take the time to understand you as an individual—your experiences, your relationships, your challenges, and the goals you have for yourself. My approach is person-centered, which means I meet you where you are and work with you at your own pace.

I actively integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) into my work when appropriate. These approaches can help us better understand the thoughts, emotions, and patterns that influence the way you respond to life and connect with others. Together, we can develop practical tools to regulate emotions, strengthen coping skills, and create meaningful change.

For Couples, Parents, & Families in Transition

I enjoy helping couples improve communication, better understand each other’s thoughts and feelings, address conflict constructively, heal from and overcome infidelity, and rebuild meaningful connection through shared rituals and positive experiences.

I also support individuals and families facing separation, divorce, and other major changes. I am currently expanding my training in Divorce Coaching frameworks so that I can offer additional support to those facing the challenges of divorce and co-parenting. My goal is to help you move through these changes with greater clarity, communicate more effectively, and find healthier ways to weather this new chapter.

Finding Your Way Forward

An important part of my work is helping clients develop a stronger sense of self-worth, confidence, and self-esteem. Sometimes our own inner critic can make it difficult to see our strengths or believe in ourselves. Together, we can work on developing greater self-compassion and understanding the patterns that may be holding you back.

I believe meaningful change begins with feeling understood and accepted. My hope is that through our work together, you will feel more confident in your ability to handle life’s challenges and develop the tools you need to create the changes you are looking for.

Most importantly, therapy is about you—your story, your experiences, your goals, and the life you want to create. My role is to listen, support you, and empower you to step into your best self while finding your own path toward greater peace, healthier relationships, and a life that truly feels like your own.
