About Jennie Jacobs
Jennie Jacobs brings over a decade of experience as a school counselor. She has worked in several public school environments and with students in all grade levels, from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Jennie emphasizes the importance of forming genuine connections with her students/clients and their families, noting that developing meaningful and positive rapport creates a strong foundation for successful counselor-student/client relationships.
When not at work, Jennie cherishes the time spent with family and friends. An avid reader, Jennie loves to learn, whether in the classroom or via authentic experiences such as exploring a new travel destination, and always finds a way to incorporate humor into her day!
Jennie Jacobs’ Approach To Therapy
Just as each one of us is unique, an individual approach to therapy is ideal as it allows for each client’s current need(s) to be addressed. I believe in providing a safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic space for clients of all ages as they identify areas in their lives they wish to further explore. I believe that counseling is a process, one in which we work collaboratively to develop strategies and skills to help gain a deeper understanding of one’s thoughts and feelings. I look forward to supporting clients in achieving their personal goals and working toward self-fulfilling actualization.
Front and center to the therapeutic relationship is the importance of rapport building. I naturally tend to favor Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which is a type of talk therapy that focuses on changing the negative thoughts and behaviors that contribute to mental health issues, with the goal for each client of obtaining the confidence needed to navigate life’s stressors.
