About Maria Browne
Maria has been a dedicated force in education and mental health since 2007. Her career has evolved from the classroom to the counseling office, providing her with nearly two decades of insight into human development. In addition to her private practice at Beautiful Journey Counseling, Maria serves as a K-2 school counselor, where she remains continually impressed by how capable children are when their needs are established and understood. She has a deep-rooted appreciation for the "glowing and growing" mind of a child.
Equally passionate about supporting adults, Maria finds great fulfillment in helping individuals navigate the complexities of adulthood, from managing neurodivergence to embracing the changing seasons of life. She believes that the capacity for growth and "rebirth" is not reserved for the young, but is a lifelong journey available to every adult seeking a deeper understanding of their authentic self.
Maria’s perspective is also shaped by her history as a Division I athlete and Varsity coach. She intimately understands the "microcosm of life" found in sports, specializing in the complex reality of identity "rebirth" and the grief process that occurs when a competitive athletic career ends. Outside of her professional life, Maria is a mother of two children who remain her greatest teachers. She finds her greatest balance in the quiet, present moments shared with her children and the loved ones who anchor her life. She is a firm believer in self-care and restoration through hot yoga, meditation, music, and Reiki.
Maria Browne’s Approach To Therapy
Maria’s ultimate mission as a clinician is to empower clients of all ages to establish self-confidence and self-compassion by nurturing the unapologetically emerging, authentic self. She finds great fulfillment in working across the lifespan, from helping children find their voice through play to assisting adults in navigating the multifaceted roles they play in their families and careers.
As an ADHD Clinical Service Provider (ADHD-CCSP), Maria takes pride in staying at the forefront of neurodivergence research. She empowers adults and children alike to understand their executive functions, helping them navigate life through a lens of strength rather than deficit. For the student-athlete and the retired professional, Maria provides a specialized space to navigate the highs and lows of competition and the transition into life beyond the scoreboard.
Maria creates a warm, safe space that activates a child’s imagination, facilitating their experience of learning emotions and self-regulation skills through communication, play, and practical coping tools. She strongly believes in the "home-to-school" and "home-to-life" connection; She understands that supporting an individual requires open minds and hearts from all surrounding support systems. Maria believes that success is rooted in routine, exercise, structured support, and a return to honoring our most basic human needs.
