ABOUT DEBORAH HAMILTON,

Deborah Hamilton is a former school counselor; she supported her students with individual counseling, group counseling, and crisis counseling. She worked with parents and entire families, providing practical interventions for parents to improve communication with their children.

Deborah has extensive experience working with adolescents struggling with depression, anxietyself-harm, suicidal ideation, losstrauma, failure, bullying, loneliness, rejection, fear, school avoidance, peer pressure, and parental pressure. She also has experience working with adults who have struggled with anxiety, grief, depression, unhealthy relationships, poor communication skills, major life transitions, and more.

Deborah especially enjoys working with couples, and has completed Levels 1 and 2 training in the Gottman method. She specializes in helping couples reconnect by improving their communication, including the ability to “hear” each other’s thoughts and feelings without judgment, and improve intimacy issues.

DEBORAH HAMILTON’S APPROACH TO THERAPY

It really can be “all about you!”

I help my clients tackle life’s struggles by providing easy-to-use techniques to manage their emotions and navigate life’s challenges in order to help them gain insight on how to live their best lives peacefully and with ease.

I work to provide a safe, warm, and supportive environment where clients can express their emotions freely while working to improve their coping skills and daily functioning. Using a person-centered approach, I help my clients reach their own internal source of healing, to experience growth needed for change. I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients by providing a kind, caring, genuinely non-judgmental atmosphere. My clients always feel safe to openly share their feelings.

I aim to fully understand my client’s thoughts and feelings that affect their actions, reactions, and behaviors. When clients are able to manage their emotions with coping skills, such as constructive self-reflection, quality of life naturally improves.
